Northern Lights Adventures
These are small group tours. Just like our photo tours they offer a more personal experience away from the crowds. These Aurora tours are flexible with Reykjavik pick up. They will only run in very good conditions for Northern lights viewing.
Arranged in order of most expensive first.
The tour begins by heading out to the Langjökull glacier, which is Iceland’s second largest glacier. Here we will get prepared for the highlight of the tour: snowmobiling in the night. The headlights of the snowmobiles will show us the way and the adventure opens up for us as we experience the glacier at night. If conditions are right, we will be able to see the Northern Lights in the pure unspoilt Icelandic nature.
The untouched landscapes of the glacier makes you feel like you’re on a different planet and the stars will be incredibly clear. At the end of the snowmobile tour we will have refreshments and drive back to Reykjavík.
You want you to get more your stay in Iceland and we are local guides with years of experience hunting the Aurora. We only go out if we think there are excellent chances. Our success rate is 90%. For our Super Jeep heavy snow and mountain tracks are no problem in our search for the Northern Lights.
Pick-up is from Reykjavik and as we head away from the city lights, the driver will give you information and useful photography tips about the Northern Lights. We choose the best locations available each time. We try to avoid places where there might be other buses so you can see the Northern lights without being disturbed from other groups. Locations may be changed later on if we think it will yield better results. You can expect to travel for up to 1 hour.
Book your Northern Lights tour for your first night for the best chances of seeing Northern Lights.

Small group Northern Lights & Stargazing tours
We drive away from the city lights to where we expect the best Northern lights sightings according to cloud forecasts and always try to get away from the other tourists so we can enjoy the Auroras properly. While we wait for the lights at our chosen location, we use our stargazing telescope to look at the planets in our solar system. It is possible to observe their moons far far away.*
Probability of Catching the Northern Lights
The Northern Lights depend on many factors and we can never guarantee them. To see them, we need three things to be good: solar storm from the sun, dark sky and a cloudless sky. Generally your chances are about 50/50. We only go out when Northern Light activity and cloud forecasts are good. Our viewing rate is 90%.
Optional extras Tripod Rental: does your camera have a tripod mount? Hand Warmers: gives you extra warmth for 5 to 8 hours.

Aurora Photo tour
During the winter nights with weather permitting, we drive to beautiful Icelandic locations in South- or West Iceland to hunt the Northern Lights. There is never any guarantee of seeing the Northern Lights, but we try our best. A tour is normally 4 hours from pick you up, until drop off. The best chance to see the Northern Lights are from 20:00 to 03:00 hours at night. We plan in advance where the best conditions will be, such as Thingvellir national park with its interesting landscape and foreground. We may change plans if the weather conditions are not great and try the evening after.
This Northern Lights tour will include you in a hunt for the Aurora borealis. In the winter, the Northern lights, can be seen in the nights sky. These guides have a lot of experience predicting aurora conditions and will try hard to give you an incredible Northern Lights experience.
The Aurora can burn various colours depending on active solar events. Their appearance can’t be guaranteed. If Northern light conditions are not great, the tour is delayed until they improve.
